Welcome to the Calais LNG Project
Calais LNG is proposing to construct and operate a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) receiving terminal and storage facility on the outskirts of Calais, Maine. Our 330-acre site is located approximately seven miles south of downtown Calais and features 2,800 feet of shoreline along the deepwater banks of the St. Croix River and Passamaquoddy Bay. (Click here for a detailed map)
When considering its history, demographics and location, the city of Calais is ideally suited as the host community for a state-of-the-art LNG facility.(Why Calais?)
"Our city is the very definition of a river community,” says a member of the Calais Historical Society. “The river is why we’re here; it has always been our lifeblood, our main connection to the rest of the world."
Calais LNG has secured the financial support of Goldman Sachs http://www.goldmansachs.com as a key investor and put together a group of highly experienced industry and regional experts dedicated to bringing Maine a state-of-the-art LNG facility that will provide a reliable, safe source of energy.
